You see, their tail is an extension of their spine and adds up to an extra 23 bones to its total length! (Did you know that around 10% of all a cat’s bones is in its tail?? Amazing, right?)
But how do cats without a tail get on? Well, Manx’s Bobtails, and other breeds can survive just fine without a tail as it doesn’t impact on their health. They can eat, drink, and have a great time regardless of the missing appendage. But it does impact on their ability to climb and balance. (Look up some YouTube clips and you will see what I mean. LOL)
As to the dizziness that befalls me when a few feet off the ground? Well, enviously, the cat doesn’t suffer from the ailment as we do. In fact, the cat doesn’t get dizzy at all – irrespective of their distance from the ground!
Someone get me a tail and call me “Cat Woman”! I want to go tight roping tonight!
Watch these kittens in the video. They are balancing on vines that look to be no more than about half an inch thick. Watch the tail in action – and these kittens are still learning!
